Day in the Life of a Leap Year Fellow

While no day is ever exactly the same, you can get a general idea of what LYF do during the yearlong program.

  • 8:00 AM

    Early bird LYF arrive for a snack and to hang before the day officially begins.

  • 8:30 AM

    LYF get in Leap Year van and head to Deerwood Academy for their AmeriCorps community service.
  • 9:00 AM

    After a quick morning meeting the LYF head to their classrooms to begin their service as second grade reading coaches.
  • 11:00 AM

    LYF reflect on their day in the classroom and work on their lesson plan for tomorrow.
  • 12:00 PM

    Lunch break!
  • 12:30 PM

    In the afternoons, LYF attend their college classes at Georgia State University and work on college and career prep activities. Throughout the year LYF also work on college skills, host guest speakers, and go on trips!
  • 4:00 PM

    End of the day! LYF do group reflection and shout outs before heading home.
